Wounded servicemen are hounded out of swimming pool.

Has our once great country sunk so low? I don't think that I have ever been so angry in my whole life. Read this and weep for your lost country!

I know that I used this quote in an earlier post, but I think it sums up this story:

'The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war,no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional as to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation'' --George Washington--

Apoplectic. I rushed off a quick post but can't blog any more this evening. I'm nauseated by it. i fear I'll say something I regret if I go on.

I'm stealing your quote now, Steve and then that's it.

OK James,

Has this country really sunk so low? I just hope that this news does not reach our troops abroad.

I'm still numb, Steve. Just re-read the DM piece. OK, it was two women only but still.

It was only two women, but why didn't everyone else in the pool tell those animals to shut up. And why didn't the staff throw them out.

My wife's American friend popped in for coffee earlier, when she read the article she swore that if that had happened in America, those women would have been arrested and charged with anything they could make stick.

The sad thing is that this would not happen in America.

I have written about it here. As I said on James' site, I think she plumbs a depth of selfishness unparalleled in civilised society.

That said, animal is far to genteel a description for that woman and her friend.

There is no comparison to be made between this country and the US when it comes to looking after our troops and respecting their service.

Tony,

The sooner our politicians pull their fingers out and start treating our returning troops with more respect the better.

If teenagers were to see our Armed Forces treated with respect, maybe we wouldn't have the troop shortage we have now.

It's the ignorance of the woman concerned that worries me.

WCL,

She is probably that ignorant that she still can't see anything wrong with what she said.
