Gordon Brown to scrap "pay-as-you-throw" bin tax plan.

So Gordon Brown is planning to scrap his plans for a "pay-as-you-throw" bin tax. Well pump bloody pump. He knew this was highly unpopular with the people of this Fair land, but did he give a monkey's before he and his party got handed their arses last Thursday? NO he bloody well did not. This is a U Turn to save his neck. If Labour had done well in the local elections would he be scrapping this tax? Not a chance.

Anyhow, when Brown and his bunch of numpties were peddling this unfair tax they assured us that we wouldn't be out of pocket - in fact they told us we could actually be better off if we recycled more. So which is it? Is Brown doing us a favour by scrapping his plans for this tax, or is he stopping us saving money on our council tax bills. What about recycling - is that not a priority now that his job is looking dodgy? I'm confused.

What a load of pony. Mavis "Ooh I don't really know" Brown will have to do a lot better than that.

I expect lots of fiddling around the edges, but nulabour have no heart now so no real changes that would mean anything of any consequence.

That's right! In order to show how much I care about the little people, I will no longer be introducting pointless, hated and money-grabbing taxes. Well, unless I really, really have to.

And the local election results have no bearing on my decision to scrap the bin tax. It was the right decision for the country.

Didn't they already scrap this once already? (only to be resurrected on the quiet a couple of days later)

Bit like road pricing in fact

Thud,

Smoke and mirrors.

Gordon,

I still don't believe you.

Travis,

And no doubt it will be scrapped again. Is this Browns idea of recycling? i.e. his policies.

Get ready for the next Brown relaunch, after a review, of course!

He could carry on recycling schemes, and get prisoners who do nothing constructive,to sort the rubbish out.

Robin,

far too sensible a suggestion, and probably would fall foul to the oooman rights legislation "introduced by a Labour Governemnt"

Curly that is one scary picture.

A new birth control campaign?

Robin, I work next to a recycling plant. It would be very easy to get those doing community service to sort the rubbish. That could make some of them think twice. It's not a nice job.

Travis, I think any party that promised to scrap that load of rubbish would walk into power.

Travis Bickle,

Agree with what you said, but has anyone asked about the human rights of the workers who do the sorting now ?
What could get round it is asking for volunteers from the prisons- a day out and other little perks,or stay inside.

Robin,

That sounds like common sense politics i.e. it will never happen with the Brown one in power.

I caught a bin policeman going through rubbish bags at 3am. The local residents now put dog shit in envelopes placed throughout the refuge... it seems to have worked.

Ahem... we even put it in the refuse!

Actually... if you can get your hands on, so to speak, hedgehog crap... then this would be even more effective than the local ginger tom with dysentery & napalm.
