Lisbon Treaty - Irish Referendum - End of Nations.

I posted this video last month and seeing as the 12th of June Irish Referendum on the Lisbon Treaty is just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to post it again:

This is a must watch, eye opening video from the Wise Up Journal.

From their website:

We set out to make a video about the pros and cons of the Lisbon Treaty and found out to our horror the lies, manipulations and deceit behind the EU. From MEPs, legal experts and EU researches the true nature of the EU unfolded, how it really operates from behind closed doors and away from prying eyes. We discovered the massive power grab away from citizens and nations to the elites that is being proposed in this treaty. Most shocking of all was how our elected representatives are willingly handing us over to this emerging Totalitarian Superstate by deception , propaganda and outright lies.

This video details how the structures of the EU really operate, what the full significance of the Lisbon Treaty is and how it is the end of Nations within in the EU. MEPs describe their experience in Brussels and how they are undermined by the real power of the unelected and unaccountable Eurocrats who run the organization. How the politicians are working together for their own selfish needs while being used for a bigger agenda. (1hr 22min)

What I would give for the Irish to throw a spanner into the works!

The latest poll in the Irish Times shows "yes to ratify" 35%, "no against" 18%, and the large remainder (47%) for "don't know/no opinion".
Everything to play for then.

Dan Hannan blogs on this a lot, and seems to be under the impression that it is incredibly close. I do hope he's right; it would be fantastic if Ireland rejected it.

Gents,

Sorry I could not reply to you individually, I've just got home from work. From what I understand, if turnout is low the NOs will win it, medium 50/50 and high the YES campaign will win. This is going on figures from one of their previous referendums with similar polling results to those provided by Cassius. I think the reason for this is that the NO campaign is more passionate and therefore more likely to vote. Here's hoping.

Come on you Irish! I've said before that if the NO vote wins, I will fly the Irish flag from my house on St Patricks Day - every bloody year.

Once again Ireland summons her children to her flag to defend her freedom. This time, however, we will have the added responsibility and honour of ensuring the voices of our fellow Europeans are heard

The fact is that the French and Dutch have rejected this treaty already. The Lisbon Treaty, which is only a treaty in name, is essentially the EU Constitution of three years ago. The democratic will of two of Europe's founding nations has been ignored by the political elite in Brussels. They have technically restructured this "Constitution" so as to circumvent the legal requirement for any further ratification in both countries. What about the other 24 countries? Don’t they get a vote.? Well, No.

We Irish now find ourselves in a situation where our constitution is the only constitution left in the union of 27 states which still holds that there MUST be a referendum to endorse any transfer of sovereignty. This stands testament to our proud heritage as a nation which has asserted its right to freedom and sovereignty in every generation.

The Lisbon Treaty will transfer power to Brussels in 60 areas of decision making from unanimity at present to qualified majority voting. Furthermore, EU law will be enshrined as superior to Irish law: On June 12th we will be voting on the 28th amendment to the Irish Constitution which clearly states the following:

11° No provision of this Constitution invalidates laws enacted, acts done or measures adopted by the State that are necessitated by the obligations of membership of the European Union referred to in subsection 10° of this section, or prevents laws enacted, acts done or measures adopted by the said European Union or by institutions thereof, or by bodies competent under the treaties referred to in this section, from having the force of law in the State.”

Under the Lisbon Treaty, EXCLUSIVE competence will be gained by the EU in certain crucial areas like International Trade and Foreign Direct Investment. This means that the tools which have been used so successfully by the IDA to attract tens of thousands of jobs to Ireland will become the sole preserve of the European Union.

The door is also opened to interference in TAX and other key economic interests.

Article 113 of the Lisbon Treaty specifically inserts a new obligation on the European Council to act to avoid “distortion of competition” in respect of indirect taxes. The proposals for a common consolidated tax base and the commitment of the French government to pursue it (The French Finance Minister who boasted of it has been told to shut up…. until July) combined with a weakening of Ireland’s voice in Europe through the LOSS of our permanent Commissioner and HALVING of our VOTING WEIGHT (Ireland’s voting weight will be reduced from 2% to 0.8% if the Treaty is implemented, while Germany’s will increase from 8% to 17%) represent a clear and present danger to our tax competitiveness.

So, do you want to see our corporate tax rate increased from 12.5% to between 30-40%? Let us qualify that further… Do you want to see Ireland’s economy severely disadvantaged in the face of growing competition in Eastern Europe / Asia? Do you want to see your highly skilled / highly paid job moved to Warsaw or Delhi?

Also, why is the entire political establishment united in their desperation to see a Yes vote? Why is it only the same fringe groups like Sinn Fein pushing a no vote publicly? When was the last time you saw Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Labour all singing flawlessly from the same hymn-sheet? Think about it. Why are they afraid of a real, open and objective debate? As a fellow Irishman, John Fitzgerald Kennedy once observed, “A nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people.”

What are they trying to hide? Maybe the original author of the Constitution / Lisbon Treaty - old Valery Giscard d’Estaing himself can give us a clue - he recently stated that “Public opinion will be led to adopt, without knowing it, the proposals that we dare not present to them directly… All the earlier proposals will be in the new text but will be hidden and disguised in some way.” Fianna Fail, Fine Gael and Labour are simply part of Giscard d’Estaing’s EU political elite – they don’t want to rock the boat with their pals Sarkozy, Merkel, and Brown..

Now, each and every one of us has the responsibility to discuss these issues and to educate our families, friends, colleagues and neighbors. The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all...

“In the long history of the world, only a few generations have been granted the role of defending freedom in its hour of maximum danger. I do not shrink from this responsibility - I welcome it” – JFK

Next Thursday, 12th June 2008, welcome this responsibility.

Whether Ireland will fulfil the ‘yes men’ part for the Lisbon treaty again??

Whether fanatics UE will make them believe: "do it for your children"? And Irishmen will be looking with tears thereafter. They will be look on how these children are seeking employment abroad. How those from Eastern Europe now. But now abroad of UE of course.

Good hearted women and men of ireland. Please do our european continent a favor and vote NO to the lisbon treaty.

I ask your help for us all from germany. Most people in the 27 country's are NOT AGAINST the european union but AGAINST an EU of the big businesses. Against an antidemocratic if not to say a faschist EU which do not care about their people. Wich do not care about our children and which do not care about peace.

They only care about foreign ressources which they want to "secure" for europe by means of war if neccessary.

They will send our children into dead, just to save their profits.

Again, good people of ireland. Remind your history as a strong and free nation and as well remind your responsibility for every other european nation who don't have the opportunity to vote about their future.

God bless you..
