Gordon Brown's planned spending cuts.

* Schools: Brown is planning to take £3.6 billion out of education spending, the equivalent of losing 30,891 teachers, and 24,140 teaching assistants and school support staff.

• Police: Brown is planning to take £650 million out of the Home Office. Cutting police funding by the same 7 per cent as the rest of the Home office could see the loss of 10,500 police officers - exactly the number of extra police officers delivered from Labour’s record investment since 1997. That’s nearly 21 off the beat in every constituency across England.

• University places: Brown is planning 7 per cent across the board cuts for public spending. That could mean cutting the number of places available each year by 22,400.

• Defence: Brown is planning to cut 7 per cent from the defence budget - the equivalent of cutting 7,000 soldiers, and a further 5,600 members of the armed forces from the Navy and Airforce. That’s almost double the number of troops the UK has in Afghanistan.

Thankfully he's been rumbled by Fleet Street over his lies about public spending.

I wouldn't mind so much if this government had actually achieved anything worth while with the billions they've already thrown at the public sector.

As it is, education has been 'dumbed down' in order to meet unrealistic targets - and teachers are suffering their highest ever levels of stress.

The police force is crippling under colossal amounts of paperwork which takes them off the street, when things like knife crime are on the rise.

The number of young people leaving school with God knows how many A levels is on the rise (thanks to said dumbing down) so what are they going to do? Move abroad? Go on the dole? See their aspirations crash and burn?

And we're fighting two wars, ill-equipped as it is, and the old bastard plans cutting the defence budget even further?

This is an outrage Steve. Sorry to rant, but pressure needs to be piled onto Brown about his continual lies. How DARE he . . .and with the nonsense spouted today by Harperson about the BNP and Yvetter flaming Cooper about child poverty, I'm quickly losing the will to live!

Gordon Brown hasn't got a clue on these things. Remember he was the chancellor that set the budget that has got us where we are today...

I'd take a 10,500 cut in the police, if the rest of them were "on the beat" doing their job..

Brown without doubt is a monster, we have never had a worse leader, he is decrepit and needs to be removed. The damage he is doing is immense and almost irreparable.
The bloke is an arsehole and he absolutely hates England, he'll take us all down with him !

He already hit local councils, but I don't see any one having ago about that, the police if he got rid of blunketts plastic police or some real police would we miss them,I don't think so,I have seen 1 of each in the last six months, the military is very worrying,I thought he had already hammered them in the last 2 years, throwing money at education doesn't work so no change.

Him and cunt Blair are the same ilk; they just do their England-hating differently.
Loony bin Brown is also leaving whoever comes in after new labour a big headache, i.e. they're leaving the next gov't as much shit to sort out as they can. Fuck them to hell and beyond. There is only one thing they deserve and we all know what that is.
