Michael Martin's housekeeper and cleaner is to receive an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list. Mrs Hawkes was on Gordon Browns list of recommendations. I can't say whether Mrs Hawkes deserves the honour or not, but it does make you wonder what makes Martin's cleaner so special?

Wasn't she the person who accompanied Mrs Martin on her famous expensive taxi shopping trips?
