Giving "poor families" a laptop and internet connection so that they can keep up with the children's progress at school?????

Why don't they get off their fat arses and go down to the school and ask?

As for snow stopping schooling, whatever happened to the "internet learning platform"? My God-daughter's school has one, but for some reason, teachers seemed unable (unwilling) to log on and set some e-work and pupils suffered as a consequence.

Bribo - yes, that about sums it up. It's certainly not going to be called "worko" or "pay attention in classio" is it?

Good one!

Mind you, I was expected a "No Intell' outside" sticker, or something similar…

Ebay will be full of them within days.

On the proposed 240,000 laptops that would be about £80,000,000. Last weeks enticement (boiler scrappage) was only £50 million.

Previous to this we had the proposed abolition of hospital car parking charges. Again about £50 million.

Amazing isn't it? All of a sudden after 13 years in government they have these little brain waves on a weekly basis, just before an election.

I wonder what next weeks little sweetener will be?

Perhaps we could start a sweepstake.

Dear Gordon, I have not got kiddies, so instead of the laptop, please give me £250 in a brown envelope and I will vote for you in the next general election - I promise faithfully. Thank you.

That's the Marxist Save-Facebook Mk XIII. No memory, no drive and you can only access your files via the FOI Act.

Your most inspired post for a while, Steve. I keep coming back and reading it - and the eBay listing - every few days, just because me makes me smile.

Great stuff.

Just goes to add to the long list of freebies we are forced to fund for the idle, who know how to play the system. Have a few kids and you get more in benefits than many working. I would put the Child Trust Fund in the same category as the free laptops, why am I via the tax system forced to pay for someone else's saving scheme?
