I cannot believe that Al Gore of all people has won the Nobel Peace Prize. This will come back to haunt the Nobel committee. Apparently the committee want to help the world focus on the threat it faced from climate change. This is to say the least taking a very one sided approach. There are many of us that think Gore is peddling rumour. A recent court case ruled that his video, An inconvenient truth can only be shown to school children if accompanied by guidance giving the other side of the argument. The court ruled that there are nine statements in the film were not supported by mainstream scientific consensus.
This is a disgusting sham, and for me the Nobel Prize has lost a lot of credibility today.

They gave one to Yasser Arafat. Like so much else these day, the award is meaningless.
This has made my blood boil. I take it that arsehole Gore will be flying in to pick up his award.
The more people like Gore support this stuff the more I know it is sententious rubbish!
Yes Mutley,
What gets to me is the fact that his propoganda film is being shown to our kids at school. We are going to have a generation of idiots wearing shorts in the snow because they can't believe it's cold.
I fear that you right. The education system will have destroyed any ability they may have had to think for themselves. If they are told that night is day they will believe it is.
'You right' should read 'you are right'.
Showing that video is not teaching it is indoctrination.
Depends what context it's shown in. I wouldn't show it without at least conceding that there is an alternative argument. The following debate about the nature of documentary and propaganda should be interesting.
Would you rather pupils weren't told that much scientific opinion is pointing towards manmade reasons for climate change?
JRD168,
I think school children should be told that there is a debate on climate change. I believe they should be shown scientific evidence from both sides. Al Gore's film does not do that, it puts forward Gore's beliefs as fact. The evidence that Gore based this film on (CO2 leads to warming) has been rubbished and yet this film is still being shown to MY kids.
Gore's film should be reclassified as semi-factual.
You guys are funny.
