David Cameron brings back Patrick Mercer as forces welfare advisor.

Tory MP Patrick Mercer has been asked to come back into the Conservative party fold. He will advise how the treatment of our troops and their families can be improved. Patrick will be reporting to Shadow Defence Secretary Liam Fox who is preparing a report outlining Tory proposals for armed forces welfare.

Patrick said: "On the back of the criticism of the Government's handling of defence issues, it's become clear the military covenant is seriously broken. "If your husband's somewhere in Helmand province, you don't want to meet drug dealers and the like living in old married quarters adjacent to your family."

Patrick Mercer, being a very popular former commanding officer of the Sherwood Foresters is an excellent choice for the position,
