Gordon Brown says we face terrorist attacks "anywhere from any place."

Gordon Brown says we face terrorist attacks "anywhere from any place." If I were Gordon I would start by looking very closely at my immediate surroundings. The fact that Jacqui Smith revealed to us yesterday that the person assigned to guarding his car was an illegal immigrant should make him a little twitchy. The guard had received security clearance from the Security Industry Authority. You've got to wonder how thorough the SIA's checks are if this person was not even qualified to live in this country. What are the criteria? I would have thought that the first question on any application would be "Are you eligible to work in the UK?" and if the answer is yes then you must provide proof. It's not that hard, is it?

Gordon plans to announce a whole new raft of security measures masterminded by both the security minister Lord West, and the Cabinet secretary, Sir Gus O'Donnell. Lord West's report is to detail ways in which crowed public spaces can be better designed to protect against terrorist attacks. This will include built in security measures for all new public buildings and modifications to existing services such as rail stations, airports, shopping centres and sports stadiums. I think that it fair to say that these measures, while desperately needed, will not stop any future terrorist attack, they will however reduce the number of casualties, and that is the best we can hope for. Lord West told the BBC Radio 4's Today programme: "I started very much on the premise that what we mustn't do is the terrorists' job for them. Yes, there is a great risk, we've got to be vigilant - but we need to make sure we conduct our normal way of life in terms of business, work, pleasure, all these things."

Sir Gus O'Donnell's report looks into the feasibility of whether police and other staff could be included in the new border force, which will protect our ports and airports. The idea is to bring together the Home Office's Border & Immigration Agency, Customs and the UK Visas overseas operation.

This is all well and good. I like Lord West. I like his proposals. I just hope that the government can implement them without turning the whole operation into another money sucking black hole.

Oh yeah of course, we're going to be attacked by moslems! What idiot came up with this rubbish? If anyone is going to attack us it's going to be the fascist, scottish occupation, supposedly UK, sycophantic eurolander loving "government"! Let me pose one question. If the "gov't" are scared of people attacking "the country" (which country Gordon Brown?) why would they allow people to leg it across the border? Why? It doesn't make sense. I am saying that they're lying.
It is the same in the U.S.A. Corrupt gov't whines about "terrorists". Corrupt gov't refuses to fence off Mexico! It doesnt make any sense! Unless of course both gov'ts are doing these things for a reason! What reasons would they have for doing these things? They want an end to democracy! Who has populations that believe in democracy? Right!!! The UK and the USA!
