Freedom to Choose - Light one up in support of freedom.

Hello readers. I would like to point you in the direction of a forum that I've recently joined: Freedom2Choose. Which is part of the Freedom To Choose Website.

This is an introduction to the Forum:

Freedom2Choose was born out of the frustration and anger felt by ordinary members of the general public at the way in which our freedoms, choices and democracy are being eroded. Our campaign is not about the promotion of smoking, many of us are not and have never been smokers, but about allowing the free use of a legal product by consenting adults in privately owned premises.

The smoking bans are the pivotal issue in the drive towards a healthist state and the perfect model citizen. It has already been witnessed in other countries that these bans are a precursor for bans and restrictions on other personal freedoms not least of which are food and alcohol.

Thank you for your support; if you want to join the hundreds of friendly campaigners using these forums please Click Here To Register so that you can access the discussion areas, read and post. Unfortunately we have to run a closed forum to prevent spammers and other dodgy posting from spoiling your enjoyment.

Please do register as we always need people with legal knowledge, organisational or other skills, or just those keen to be involved - everyone is welcome to join in the fight. There is plenty to join in with once you've registered - including discussion of the science, politics and law relating to smoking bans, campaign ideas and news updates, along with more general chat.

You may wish to indicate your occupation or interests when you complete your profile at registration, along with your location, which will be useful to know as we are becoming more regionally organised.

Thank you for your support

F2C
I think we have already seen the statement in bold above coming true. Now that smoking has been banned we are now being bombarded with the dangers of food and drink. This is not just about smoking, it's mainly about our liberty.

Thank You for hightlighting the freedom2choose site Steve:
As you say it is WELL WORTH signing up to; same goes for The Daily Referendum!
I really feel both sites have a big part to play, in getting the TRUTH out there...they compliment each other in every way!
PEOPLE ARE FED UP...70% OF THE POPULATION DID NOT WANT A BLANKET SMOKING BAN....a partial ban Yes!
But this is just dictatorship gone MAD!
Brown and Co, as David Cameron often implies, are just riding rough shod over the country i feel that it is DISCRIMINATION AND CRIMINALIZATION OF THE HIGHEST ORDER....
The people WILL rise up...in fact
WW2, Hitler....the Resistance spring to mind!
MARK MY WORDS... PEOPLE WILL NOT TAKE THIS LYING DOWN...THE MEDIA CAN KEEP SILENT AS LONG AS THEY LIKE...THERE WILL ALWAYS BE ANOTHER WAY OF TALKING [ie the net] THE MESSAGE IS SPREADING AND NUMBERS GROWING...
DON'T FORGET NATIONAL SMOKING DAY 31ST DEC...SMOKE IN EVERY PUB!!!!

You've lost me on this one, I like many other people are enjoying the freedom to go to a pub and enjoy a drink without coming out stinking of other people's cigarettes. I also enjoy being able to eat my lunch without smokers who have finished their's lighting up and blowing smoke over me.

Mrs SP.

I agree with you about non-smokers having to put up with smoke. However I'm not calling for the ban to be reversed. I believe it could have been done a lot better. Many offices, factories, airports, and train stations had totally separate smoking rooms that were absolutely no risk to non-smokers. These rooms now stand empty while smokers stand in the cold. Many pubs were willing to build separate smoking rooms, again with zero risk to non-smokers. The government decided to ignore this and ban smoking across the board. Even outside smoking shelters have to be open to the elements even though non-smokers never enter them. It's a bloody joke. This ban was not about banning smoking inside, it was about banning smoking full stop. It's a gradual removal of our liberties. Now the smoking ban is in place, the health fascists are already starting on what we should eat and how much we should drink. This is not about smoking it's about the erosion of liberty. Many at the freedom to choose forum are non-smokers.

Actually, I think you'll find that MOST at F2C are pretty fanatical about smoking. They drivel on about 'liberty' but the fact is that there's little if any mention about people's liberties and 95% about smoking.

Their amateurish attempts are laughable, take a look at the mess they made of their much vaunted Judicial Review if you want to see how hopeless they are.

Non-smokers would still have work around lethal second-hand smoke, who do you think brings glasses back to the bar or would clean these areas?; in this day and age it's not acceptable to put their lives at risk just because a selfish smoker can't be bothered to go outside for 5 minutes.

SHS kills, ask the NHS, ask your doctor, ask the World Health Organisation, ask the tobacco companies.

The law is here to stay, lives will be saved, smokers will get a chill, deal with it!
