Daily Referendum takes a blogging break?

I'm taking a break. I don't know how long, maybe a week or two, maybe permanently. I've run this blog for about twenty months and it has eaten up most of my spare time - I work twelve hour shifts, so there isn't always a great deal of time to spare. The blog has been reasonably successful, but I got into blogging in the hope that I could make a difference. However, I'm starting to realise that his blog will never get the number of visitors needed to do that. 12000 visitors on a good month is not going to even register on the political radar. So if I do continue blogging after this break, it will probably be at a lower rate.

See you later

Steve

Good luck, Steve; blogspace has allowed many voices to flourish, you'll see later that these moments come infrequently in history. There's signs even now that the chorus is quietening a little. If you have a message and a mission, you'll be back.

Steve,

I agree with Albion, rest up, get refreshed.

The fight is far from over, and bloggers such as yourself are hard to find. You are an inspiration to many.

Your various rankings prove that.

Take care, we hope to see you again soon.

Yes, by all means take a break, but please come back when you are rested - you would be sorely missed.

Steve,
Doesn't matter how many visitors you get - we need everyone we can get who speaks sense at the moment in this country. You do, so don't go!

Just when I was beginning to get used to you.
Take care.

I am pleased that other commenters have already pointed out that it isn't the stats that are important. If I looked at mine I'd probably be too ashamed to continue at all...

No: it is all about sowing seeds, and letting those propagate. That will never show up in simplistic statistics, but is vitally important.

Remember the boy and the starfish! The effort is always worthwhile.

I get around 2000 visitors a month, Steve, so you are doing better than me. I was up to around 4000 at one point last year, but that didn't last for long.

I know I am not going to have a large readership like Iain and Guido. What I do have however is a loyal readership who regularly come back and comment. I am happy with that. In your case, imagine you are addressing an audience every day of around 300-400 people. If that was in a hall somewhere, you would get off your arse and feel quite proud all those people were interested in what you had to say.

I enjoy what you do, Steve and please remember we are in the silly season at the moment. Traffic on my blog has gone down by around 40% this past week. It is to be expected.

Have a break - just like many other bloggers; myself included in a week - and then you will come back refreshed. You've done it before and you know it made you feel better.

It's been more than three days now but I still look in more than once a day.

I hope all is well.

Enjoy your rest, Steve. Everything in moderation is a good dictum.

Take care. Bring back the Magical Mystery Tour.

Well, Steve has moderation switched off, so nothing is...

Oh, I see what you mean :-)

Come back soon, we need you!

Well I for one enjoy reading your point of view - even though I often disagree. By all means take a rest but please don't disappear for ever.

I've just twigged from your post- I think we've bumped into eachother in RL, kind of.

If you work in the food industry that is.

If you do, we haven't met, but I ceratinly spoke to you over the telephone vis a vis aspects of your production line that I don't want to go into here.

If this is so and you are the same Steve Green, it's certainly a small world.
