George Osborne on the Andrew Marr Show - A+ (again).

George OsborneGeorge Osborne has just appeared on the Andrew Marr Show. Once again he put on an excellent performance, speaking clearly and getting his point out loud and clear. I cannot understand all those fools who feel the need to question his abilities every time we have blip in the polls or Labour trolls start stirring it up. People must remember that Labour have targeted Osborne for a reason, and the reason is that Cameron and Osborne are a great team - both are great in front of camera or an audience.

Alistair Darling has followed him up with the usual waffle - not worth repeating for the thousandth time.

I will post a link to the show when it is available.

Completely agree. There's a reason why Labour fear him so much and are trying to undermine him at every turn. I just hope Cameron sticks to his guns.

Osborne, it seems, would not have cut VAT.

I thought you were supposed to be the tax cutting party?

He also left the door open to Quantitative Easing.

All very confusing.

Doc,

A tax cut must have a reason and it must also be practical.

As for quantitative easing, I think you will find he said the government should not rule it out because of the shit position the have got us in. Not his exact words obviously.

Yes, there is a very big clue in the fact that Labour's big guns have been targeting Osborne so much in recent times.

Those of us old strategists out here can read the signs, and they do indeed strongly indicate that Labour have a very real fear of him and his abilities. No wonder he wasn't moved in the recent Shadow Cabinet re-shuffle!

As for the VAT cut: that was of no benefit to anyone beyond a headline-grab for the Labour Government. As always with them, it was only self-interest that drove the move, and no-one else benefited from this (short-term anyway) change.
