Top Gear - Aston Martin Vantage - beautiful ending.

I've just watched this week's top gear. It was, as usual, very entertaining, but there was a real treat at the end. Clarkson took the new Aston Martin Vantage out for a spin and in the process produced a great little film. I was left feeling just like Jeremy - sad. To me that car is the pinnacle of car design and things will never be the same again. There are faster cars, there are possibly more beautiful cars, there are cars that are more technically advanced, but the Aston is a work of art, power and technology combined - it's perfect.

The music is "An Ending (Ascent)"From the album 'Apollo-atmospheres and soundtracks' by Brian and Roger Eno and Daniel Lanois. (1983)

That was spooky... I was looking at a painting by Ingres in the National... Madame Moitessier... and was overcome by an intense feeling of seeing beauty... and freedom... for the last time. Sometimes, this blogging lark can really get to you.

They said the same about motorcycles over fifteen years ago and you can now do nearly 200mph on the things. I wouldn't worry too much, it's just Jeremy going all nostalgic for his youth.

Admitedly you could actually use the speed back then as there were few cops and no speed camers, ah, those were the days.

Aaaaah... there's the rub Swiss Bob and the contradiction. What's the point of having these things, if you can't use them?

Just saw it - yes indeed.

It was a technically excellent, beautifully crafted and beautifully filmed way of saying with few words how this wonderful nation (landscape, engineering and the guts to defend freedom) of ours is being wrecked by sad people who cannot stop regulating everything as though we are all idiots who need to be told what to do at every turn.

Beautiful scenery (and the car of course)..
Does anyone recognize the landscape? In which part of Great Britain was it filmed (i'm from Denmark, so i'm not that familiar with the landscape)

Like most people, I resent lining the pockets of the BBC with the extortionate TV licence fee, but dare I say, the Top Gear Vantage article made it worth every penny. It was a truly, truly stunning piece of television and the Brian Eno track is possibly one of the most beautiful, haunting pieces of music I've ever heard !!!

The car is stunning, the music encapsulated the mood completely and the scenery was breath taking, excellent piece of film.

Saw the episode yesterday on Belgian television. It was breathtaking! Please does anyone knows where it was filmed? Like our Danish friend I would like to know so I can plan my next trip!
Greg from Belgium.
