Sir Nicholas Winterton should be disowned by the Conservative party.

I've just listened to Sir Nicholas Winterton on 5 Live's Steve Nolan show. The man is a complete and utter arse and I hope that David Cameron apologises for this dinosaur's comments and totally disowns the pompous fool. His comments on travelling first class on the train were shocking, as was his whole attitude to the way he claimed his expenses.

The problem here is that Winterton thinks that being an MP somehow makes you superior to the general public - a view shared with MPs of all parties. Luckily Winterton is stepping down at the election along with a load of other scroungers who are up their own backsides.

I hope that this man's idiocy does not put people off voting Tory.

I'm furious that this tit could be seen to represent the Conservative party.

Winterton and his wife are smug, pompus people, they were happy to get standard people to vote for them but not to share a railway carriage with them. It ishard to believe that they have represented us. Egotistical money grabbers.

I actually agree with Sir Nicholas. Have any of ever tried to work in Standard class? I frequently travel to London from Derbyshire and always book an economy ticket, but if it's heavingly busy (as it often is) I upgrade to first. It really is the only way to get somewhere quiet to work - especially if you're working on a document that's in any way commercially sensitive. All this ire would be better directed at National Rail who seem to think it's acceptable to cram people into standard class like they're cattle. Everyone should be entitled to a seat and ideally a table to work at. It costs enough to travel by train.

The Wintertons are smug, arrogant arseholes with no regard for the working person at all. For 30 years they've taken our money on expenses, done fuck all for the working class apart from being part of a government that destroyed our manufacturing industry, put 3 million on the dole and laughed about it in their posh dining clubs.

They put me off ever voting conservative in 1984

Not that I vote for anyone else these days as the policies are largely the same dumb unregulated free-market economic ones that have almost bankrupted the country.

I reckon they fit right in with the Tories.

Why are there people so stupid that they come out with inflamtory statements like this before the most important GE in 31 years.

He should be taken round the back of the HoC and given a 9mm in the neck.

This sort of stupidity is what we expect from Labour, the potential for electoral damage from a voting public pissed off with MP's expenses is worrying.

Winterton is the biggest and stupidest Mandelson Chump yet

Yep. Made a bit of a tit of himself all right.

Not to worry, though. He's being put out to pasture in May.

(Or is it April?)
