Chris Bryant MP tweets a lie about Tory PPC Rory Stewart.

You may have seen that on last night's Question Time the panel were ask to discuss whether Jan Moir's offensive Stephen Gately article should have been published. The general consensus of the panel was that while the article was grossly inappropriate it should not be illegal to publish it. However after last night's show Labour MP Chris Bryant posted the following on twitter:

This is simply a lie. Rory Stewart specifically said that when he said that satire should be allowed he was NOT talking about the Stephen Gatley article. Rory did not defend the article, he - like the majority of the panel - defended her right to publish it.

When I replied to Chris Bryant that his tweet was a lie, he did not apologise, or say "sorry I misunderstood what Rory said". No, he said this instead:
@Daily_Ref @TheRedRag So remind me of a single word he used tocondemn jan moir's grossly insensitive piece?
I despair that some Labour MPs think that it is OK to use Twitter smear the opposition for pure political advantage. Judge for yourself whether you think Chris Bryant lied about Rory Stewart's comments on the Moir article: Click HERE to watch the show (56 minutes in).

Question time - Peter Hain gets blasted by LDV.

All I will say about Question time this week is to quote one of the audience (LDV employee) who was speaking to Peter Hain:
"You may have forgotten us, but come the next Election, we will not forget you!"
When it becomes available, I will post the link to tonight's programme.

If I was Caroline Flint I'd throw a sickie - Question Time.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Caroline flint is on Question time tonight and that alone would be bad news in the current political climate. However it's a lot worse than that for poor old Caroline - tonight she is on a panel with Nigel Farage AND Daniel (Gordon slayer) Hannan. I bet her bum is twitching like a rabbits nose.

I will not be missing that.

UPDATE: Not as bad as I thought it would be for Flint. But she did manage to get the biggest boo/laugh when she said we should thank the EU for our economic success - you can't make that up.

Our civil liberties mean nothing to Geoff Hoon - Question Time.

Geoff Hoon showed us the true face of our socialist government last night on Question Time. His performance throughout the show was pathetic, but he was totally at odds with the panel and the audience when he tried to defend the government's plans for a database of mobile and web records.

More Labour bias from the BBC politics section.

I use the BBC News website quite a lot, it's a great site, but it lets itself down by having a politics section run by what seem to be Gordon Brown's best mates. On last night's Question Time, Harriet Harman got a right slating from the panel and the audience (even though it seemed that Labour HQ had bussed in the last of their die-hard supporters from the bunker).

Even so, the BBC's politics section chose to put up the article: Labour rebels made error - Harman (with attached video). If you watch the video it will show you Harman saying that the rebels made an error. What it does not show is that she made her loyal statement in response to being asked if she would stand in a leadership election if one was called - she would not answer - as the video shows she just waffled on about Gordon being the best man for the job.

Question Time 29th May - Hoon in a Pickle?

Eric PicklesQuestion Time tonight has all the makings of a great show. Tory hero of the moment Eric Pickles will be locking horns with Labour Chief Whip Geoff Hoon. Eric has a fantastically smooth and persuasive approach to most arguments (I've heard rumour that he has sold fur hats to some Greenpeace officials heading off to Africa) and any attacks on the Tories from Hoon will seem like Jack Russel yapping at a Lion. Eric seems to live in the eye of a storm.

The rest of the panel includes the Green Party member of the European parliament for the South East of England Caroline Lucas (no doubt she will wind me up) the historian and broadcaster Dan Snow (son of Peter) and the director of Global Vision Ruth Lea.

Tonight's show is from Lincoln and will be shown on BBC One at 22:35.

Be there or be Albert.

Question Time 17th April - Lets get ready to rumble!

Question Time should be a good one tonight. Here is the line up:

Daily Telegraph columnist Simon Heffer, Conservative Party chairman Caroline Spelman, Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik, author Tony Parsons and the Labour Party's deputy leader Harriet Harman.

I wonder if the claws will come out. It's not been a good day for Gordon Brown - Harriet will have to defend her leader.

Do not miss Question Time tonight 6th March 08

Let's get ready to rumble! I can't wait for tonight's Question Time, the panel is a dream come true following yesterday's Lisbon Treaty referendum vote:

Cabinet Office Minister Ed Miliband, the shadow home secretary David Davis, veteran politician Baroness Williams, the leader of the UK Independence Party Nigel Farage and comedian and broadcaster Marcus Brigstocke.

Be there or be Albert.

UPDATE: Great show with some interesting questions from the audience. Top moment: David Davis made Baroness Williams admit that the Lisbon Treaty was important. Watch it HERE.

Don't miss Question time tonight - Caroline Flint

Don't miss Question time tonight, Caroline (If looks could kill) Flint is on and she is always good for a laugh. It's worth watching to see if she can reply to a single question with a straight answer (unlike all the other Labour MPs). I guarantee she will lose her temper, and even better - Clive James will drag her over the coals in his usual sarcastic manner. I can't wait. In the meantime I'm having a Chinese delivered and I'm trying out Chicken Kung Po for the first time. You can't call me unadventurous.

Question Time 7th Feb - Andy Burnham does a Gordon Brown.

I enjoyed this weeks edition of Question Time. We had a decent panel, there were no real dummies and even the non-political panel member, Duncan Bannatyne, who didn't say much, still managed to enhance the debate with his comments. Surprisingly the panel were all in agreement on the first question raised: A member of the audience ask if The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, was correct to state that the adoption of some Sharia law in the UK seemed "unavoidable".

The show then settled into its usual format of opposing opinions. David Dimbleby had to cut Andy Burnham short on several occasions for doing a Gordon by going into typical party propaganda, instead of answering the question put to him. When Burnham was asked for his opinion on Caroline Flint's policy to evict the long term unemployed from social housing, David became so despondent he had to interrupt Burnham's Labour party political broadcast, saying:

"We hear this in the House of Commons every week, will you answer her question, no - answer her question please. Don't give us what the labour government have done in the last ten years in your view, but answer the question about what Caroline Flint said."

Obviously when given this second chance to answer, he still just waffled on about how great the Government is without actually answering the question. However David made Burnham pay for this by leaving him looking pretty stupid - to the applause of the audience. All Labour MPs can expect this treatment in the future if they insist on following the current trend of failing to answer straight questions about their own policy.

Is this question dodging policy anything to do with Gordon Brown's new top Spad Stephen Carter - A man of some very questionable past activities?

Note: Chris Grayling looked ten times the politician Burnham did.
