Another day at the Conservative conference - another great policy.

After a great first day at the Conservative conference and some vote winning policies (removing stamp duty for first time buyers, and tax breaks worth £2,000 a year for 1.8 million families), George Osborne is to announce another one today. The Shadow Chancellor will unveil plans to cut inheritance tax.

David Willetts will also announce new proposals for Schools saying that teachers will only be liable for prosecution if they have shown "reckless disregard" of the risks - should a child be injured on an outing.

David said: "These proposals are about giving our children back their childhood. Children need play, adventure and excitement. But, today, fear of litigation means school trips and adventure holidays are abandoned. Instead, children get their excitement from video games or the artificial stimulus of drink and drugs. We need to tackle the compensation culture, which has done so much damage to the quality of children's lives. So we are proposing to give much greater legal protection to people organising sport and outdoor activities for children."

There will be more excellent policies announced during today's conference: all of which will make life a little brighter and a little fairer for us all.

It's time for a change.

It really has been a strong start to the conference. This is the kind of thing that Gordon Brown feared would happen.

LFAT,

Yes, the party just needed a chance to shine and they've made a good start at it.
