OK it's only a by-election, but every little helps, right?
The Conservative Party has won a vacant seat on Telford and Wrekin Council after winning a by-election. John Dixon beat Labour's Liz Swift by 593 votes to 362 to take the vacant Brookside ward following a ballot on Thursday.
The win means Conservatives now hold 26 of the authority's 54 wards.
Well done John Dixon!
