Telford Tory John Dixon wins seat in Labour stronghold Brookside.

Telford Tory John Dixon has won the seat for Brookside in a council by-election. The seat had been a Labour stronghold for many years, and John describes his victory as a "cry for help from a Telford estate that has simply been neglected by Labour for more than 34 years"

John said "I have been elected to turn things around and make a difference to its future, and that is exactly what I intend to do."

Well done John Dixon!

It's been a Liebour stronghold since the ward was created. Telford & Wrekin Council has been Liebour controlled since it was created. That changed this year when the Tories took control of the borough and the ex-BNP turned Tory George Ashcroft took the first Brookside seat for the Tories. The other one went the other day.

I haven't met John Dixon yet ...

I hope George Ashcroft has truly seen the error of his past.

Seems to have. I was talking to him earlier actually, trying to squeeze some money out of him for the local cubs and scouts.

Good, everyone should be able to learn from their mistakes. I hope he gets a fair chance to show he is worthy of his position.
