Glenrothes by-election to be held 6 November 08.

From the BBC:

The Glenrothes by-election will take place on 6 November, Labour MPs have been told.

It has not yet been decided if Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be campaigning ahead of the contest.

The Glenrothes seat was left vacant after the death of John MacDougall, who was fighting the cancer-related disease mesothelioma.

The Labour Party is defending a 10,600 majority from the last general election, in 2005.

Mr MacDougall, a former leader of Fife Council who was first elected to the Commons in 2001, was 60 when he died.
I've got a feeling that this will be closer than it would have been a few weeks ago. Gordon Brown gets us into so much debt that is hard to imagine, he presided over the pathetic regulation of the City, and now it looks like he could get a poll boost for fixing his own incompetence - go figure.
